CRA initially denied a client’s HST input tax credit on the purchase of a building, stating it was a residential rental property and therefore ineligible. After discussing the building’s actual use with CRA and clarifying the mixed‑use nature of the property, the building was reclassified and a 50% HST input tax credit was allowed.

Avoiding $10,000 in T1135 Penalties Through Voluntary Disclosure

A client had failed to file their T1135 Foreign Income Verification Statement for four consecutive years. I prepared and submitted the missing forms through the Voluntary Disclosure Program, allowing the client to correct the oversight and avoid over $10,000 in late‑filing penalties

Turning a Denied HST Rebate Into a $24,000 Refund

A client’s New Residential Rental Property rebate was denied after they filed it without the required documentation. I rebuilt the application with the proper supporting details, resubmitted it, and the claim was approved — resulting in over $24,000 recovered.

Supporting a Vehicle Expense Claim During a CRA Review

CRA requested additional information before allowing a client’s vehicle expense deduction. I prepared detailed supporting documentation, reconciled the bookkeeping records to the tax return, and outlined the vehicle type and business use. With the proper evidence in place, CRA allowed 100% of the claimed expenses.
